What is Infill?
Depending on who you ask, the definition can vary. To us..infill is a lifestyle. It's essentially the redevelopment of older homes or land in Edmonton's mature neighbourhoods. It is the practice of removing existing structures and building brand new properties on the site. This is probably the simplest way to explain it without getting overly technical.
Why do we think of it as a lifestyle?
Although we believe living in the burbs is suited for many, there is something about living in a mature neighbourhood that just feels different. The huge 50, 60 ...even 100 year old boulevard trees that canopy the streetscape. The close proximity to trendy local shops, trails and short commute to our city's core. It's not just living in a new house in an old community, it's the constant engagement between your indoor and outdoor surroundings that truly makes it unique. As you can tell, we are huge infill fans which is the reason we have dedicated an entire website to Infill in Edmonton.
Why is it important?
Again...this can be different for many. For us, the rejuvenation of our older more mature neighbourhoods is essential to keep pace with our evolving City. Edmonton is changing, it's becoming different. As guys who have had the opportunity to travel to some pretty cool places, it feels as though our city is growing up. Edmonton's mature neighbourhoods have declined in population by over 73,000 in the last 40 years according to the City of Edmonton and we want to be a part of helping bringing families back to these communities. We are huge supporters of density when done right.
