A Couple of Our Favorite Cafe's in Infill Communities

We love coffee, plain and simple.  I think it's fair to say that we can pick out a good espresso from a bad one.  Is it bitter? Does it taste burnt? Not hot enough? Whatever the barista does, we can most likely pick up on it.  There are some amazing cafes throughout the City that we will highlight throughout the year.  Here are 2 on our favorite list!

credo

LOCATION: WESTMOUNT (10350-124St)

-if you live anywhere in Westmount you would be able to walk to credo in minutes.

Coffee: The coffee is excellent and one of the highlights for us is that they serve the Intellegentsia bean which is one of our favourites.

Infill: Westmount is arguably one of the most active infill communities in the entire City at the moment.  What was once an old quiet community is now filled with new homes and new construction everywhere.  The trend will continue in Westmount because of its close proximity to the downtown core. Most common infill in Westmount right now is skinny homes.

leva

LOCATION: GARNEAU (11053-86 AVE)

-this place is a hidden gem.  Steps to the U of A and located in Garneau which almost feels like your on campus. Sitting on the patio in the summer is a must.

Coffee: Many argue that the coffee here is the best in the City...it's that good.  This place isn't just known for their coffee, they also have a full menu where you can sit and grab a bite.  The pizza is out this world.

Infill: Garneau is a really interesting community because it almost feels like you are right on campus and in a sense depending on where you are in Garneau you actually are on the U of A campus.  Always has been a popular infill community and will continue to be for many years to come.  A lot of properties in Garneau are old and you'll definitely see infill in there but not at the rate of some other communities for a couple of reasons: 1. Land is expensive and to find the lot with right dimensions is also a challenge depending on what a developer is looking to build.  2. The rental income is probably some the best in the City and for that reason, homeowners aren't overly motivated to sell when they know that their properties will be rented out every semester.   The University isn't going out of business anytime soon.
